President Trump is singularly focused on getting a coronavirus vaccine to all Americans by January — if not before then, son-in-law and top adviser Jared Kushner says in a new interview.
“The president is moving heaven and earth to get a vaccine done by the end of the year — if not sooner — to have it produced. We’re simultaneously working on the supply chains so that we can scale production rapidly,” Kushner told Fox Business Network’s “WSJ at Large.” “We’re doing that simultaneously, but no expense is being spared. No effort is being spared.”
Kushner so touted what he called major advancements in coronavirus testing and vowed the country would stay open once it reopened fully.
“What we’re doing now is focusing on the fall to make sure that we are restocking the stockpile, we’re working on a vaccine, and we’re doing everything possible so that once we open up we’ll never have to lock down again,” he told Gerry Baker, the show’s host.
In late April, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious disease expert, said he wanted testing to at least double before state lockdowns were lifted.
