A 19-year-old Kansas Democrat who won a primary for a state office despite admitting to sexually harassing girls in middle school reportedly said Sunday he plans to drop out of the race.

Aaron Coleman, a dishwasher and community college student, made the announcement in a series of tweets from an account that he has since made private, KCTV 5 reported.

“I will be releasing a press release in the morning resigning,” the newcomer wrote. “I regret my past actions and hope to continually learn from them as I grow into the person I hope to be.”

Coleman, who defeated incumbent Rep. Stan Frownfelter by just 14 votes in their Kansas City district, has admitted to bullying, blackmailing and subjecting at least one middle-school girl to revenge porn.

He also landed in hot water for a since-deleted August Facebook post suggesting he would “laugh and giggle” if a former GOP state lawmaker died of COVID-19.

Coleman on Sunday wrote that he “never expected this kind of attention” and said “it’s too much.”

The teen also said his father is in the hospital and he needs to focus on caring for him and “surviving the COVID great depression.”

Frownfelter, who’s held the seat since 2007, said he plans to run a write-in campaign in the November general election.

Kansas Republican Kristina Smith is also running for the seat with a write-in campaign.
