ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The first tee times to open the 105th PGA Championship at Oak Hill were scheduled for 7 a.m. Thursday on the first and 10th tees.
Weather reports, which called for freeze warnings from 11 p.m. Wednesday night through 8 a.m. Thursday, though, put that start time very much in jeopardy.
Temperatures were forecast to be below freezing overnight and into the morning in the area surrounding and including Oak Hill. So, there’ll almost certainly be a frost delay in place to delay the opening round.
Despite the chilly forecast for Thursday morning, the temperatures are expected to reach the mid-60s during the day, and the rest of the week does not look in jeopardy due to more frost delays.
Friday’s forecast for the second round is calling for a high close to 80.
Saturday for the third round, showers are expected with highs in the 60s.
And, for Sunday’s final round, it’s supposed to be sunny with temperatures in the low 70s.
